Modern Track Machinery is a manufacturer and distributor of high quality railway maintenance equipment. With two facilities in North America, we are the wholly owned subsidiaries of Geismar Corporation of France. In the U.S.A. our facility, Modern Track Machinery Inc. is located in Elgin, Illinois just outside Chicago. Modern Track Machinery Canada Ltd. is located in Mississauga, Ontario near Toronto. Brief History: Geismar Corporation was founded in 1924 in Colmar, France supplying tools and hardware to the growing railway industry. In the years following WWII, with Europe undergoing unprecedented reconstruction and mechanization, Geismar contributed the first lag-bolting machine. Within Geismar, the following decades brought development in all areas of railway maintenance worldwide. These developments include: in the 1960's heavy machines for track works and renewal; in the 1970's the focus was on development of turnkey factories for wood tie manufacture, rail welding and the production of the first series of track motor cars; the 1980's brought about development of OHL maintenance vehicles along with related tools and components; for the 1990's inspection equipment was the focus of research and development. Modern Track Machinery Today: Today, both Geismar and Modern Track Machinery are at the forefront of a rapidly changing railway industry. With an emphasis on meeting our customers current and evolving requirements, we continue to strengthen our product range offering a full selection of maintenance of way equipment from gas, hydraulic and electric tools, measurement instruments, OHL equipment, tampers, tie-inserters as well as a range of road-rail and steel-wheeled personnel and material transport vehicles. With over three quarters of a century of experience in the railway and transit industry, Geismar has a single focus - to provide solutions and products that enhance our rail customers' operations and performance safely.
